重力、S 矩陣和弦論 (Gravity, S-matrix and string theory) |
課程目標 |
In this course, we will begin by arguing why classical gravity must be described by the self-interaction of spin-2 particles. We will then discuss general properties of the S-matrix, which gives the probability amplitude of interactions, imposed by unitarity of quantum mechanics. In route we will derive interactions consistent with previous constraint and Lorentz symmetry, and show that how it will eventually violate unitarity at high energies. We will show that under limited assumptions, we derive a cured result that is precisely string theory.
In short, we will learn physics from physical observables! |
課程要求 |
You will form groups (preferably two people). You will be assigned small projects which are extensions of topics discussed in class. The result of your small project will be presented at the end of the semester and constitute the grades.
Prerequisites: Basic knowledge of Lorentz and SU(2) symmetries.
